Being a poster, theatre formats, children bans, smart glasses

Marie’s post is a mindset that I often recommend but can never impose. You have to post for the love of posting.
Creating content obviously still works, but you can usually tell when someone has created something thinking ‘this is great content’ vs ‘I’m going to post lol’. With the former you risk becoming part of a pipeline, a cog that works on planned, by-the-numbers posts when most of the success I’ve seen is from people who love posting, and keep posting until it works.

I try to keep an eye out for any theatre, anywhere, that does something that feels different. And the Yard Theatre have been smashing it with their font, animation and general vibe for their reopening.
If your play uses a set for a variety of different scenes then this is a good format to nick.
One of the joys of researching is that it often feels like reading a gossip column. Embrace that feeling.
How does a creepy little guy on a stick hook me in more than any Netflix show.
The bullet point bit
More than 60% of Australian children are still using social media after the ban. I think 40% is pretty good actually, but I also never for a second thought the ban would be 100% effective. Getting around these bans is child’s play.
I was talking to DCN’s James Akers for their podcast recently, and he asked where social media is heading. I think it’s been pretty stagnant for a while, because where do you go from video? The Metaverse is still a possibility but it’s going to take a technological and societal leap for it to work, and in the meantime we have incremental changes like the growing popularity of Smart Glasses, which will lead to a rush of candid POV content. Imagine putting these on curators and production staff to easily capture all the cool shit they do during the day, and just IMAGINE the privacy implications.
One of the trickiest things is getting the right audience to see your content. Well, if you go into a TikTok video’s settings there’s something called ‘Manage Keywords’ where you can suggest search words for your video to appear for. I’ve done it for a few videos and haven’t noticed much difference though. That said, lots of platforms are now using AI tools to figure out what niche your channel occupies through your content and descriptions, so it’s another way of saying ‘My account is about this thing’.
Personal stuff I do for me and you can just skip this if you like
🎮📖 what I’m consuming as a consumer
My Nicolas Cage itch is being satisfyingly scratched by Spider Noir, my 4X itch is being gouged by playing Zephon, and my build a beautiful French city itch is being tickled by playing Town to City.
